A Tribute To Chris Farley

The Lineup Is Set For Chris Farley Tribute

"Saturday Night Live" veterans Tim Meadows and Jim Breuer are among those tapped to take part in the fourth annual "Comics Come Home" fundraiser in honor of former "SNL" star Chris Farley, who died in 1997.

The comedy show benefit began in Farley's hometown, Madison, Wis., in 1998 to raise money for the Chris Farley Foundation, and has sold out each year. Among the other comedians set to take part in the event on Dec. 1 are Tom Arnold, Tim Kazurinsky ("SNL" ) and Wanda Sykes ("The Downer Channel"). Breuer has acted as host for "Comics Come Home" since it began.

Last year's benefit raised over $50,000 for the foundation, which was founded by Farley's family to promote drug and alcohol awareness in schools.

Give Her A Deal! She Holds The Keys To Nirvana

Courtney Love Offered Millions After Label Hears Demo

COURTNEY LOVE has reportedly been offered $18.5 million by UNIVERSAL RECORDS after they heard her new demo. Love has competed recording the demo for her new group, Bastard, and is set to give some of the material its first airing at a show this evening (October 26) at the Ventura Theater in California. According to the New York Post newspaper, Universal Records offered Love $18.5 million after hearing the demo tape, which cost $10,000, and features just five songs. Love is currently locked in a legal battle with Universal. She claims that long-term record contracts are much longer than the seven-year legal limit in other comparable industries, such as television, film and sports.

Give her a deal! End the lawsuit! We want the Nirvana box set released!

Millions Of Teenage Boys Can't Be Wrong

Britney Beats Off Wild Boars

BRITNEY SPEARS is helping German farmers beat off a plague of wild boars - by scaring the pigs with her music.

The animals are destroying crops in Germany but can't be shot because they're a protected species - so arable man HERRMANN-JOSEF BECKER tried playing tunes to drive them away. He says, "MADONNA didn't work too well, ROBBIE WILLIAMS was a dead loss but they can't stand Britney Spears. "When I switch on OOPS I DID IT AGAIN, or I'M NOT THAT INNOCENT, the pigs come snorting out and running for the woods." Thirty other farmers near the city of Trier are now using the pop princess to keep the boars off their wheat, hops and maize.

Now, if she only made stye calls.

Movie industry experts predict that HARRY POTTER AND THE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE will become the all-time number one smash when it is released on 16 November, 2001.

The film version of author J.K.ROWLING's first novel is expected to eaily surpass the $585 million grossed by TITANIC in 1997.

The $130 million movie is directed by CHRIS COLUMBUS and stars ALAN RICKMAN, ROBBIE COLTRANE and MAGGIE SMITH. The part of HARRY POTTER is played by DANIEL RADCLIFFE, whose face is set to be on millions of COCA COLA cans. Dan's Thoughts On The "Charity" Concerts

Over the weekend many of the world's brightest stars, both past and present, performed in New York, Washington, Toronto, Atlanta and other places around North America in concerts benefiting the victims and families of the September 11th attacks. Their stated collective goal? To raise money.

But was there something else at hand? Record sales maybe?

Now call me one cynical Diablo, but why did almost every act mention that this song or that was their "new single"?!?! If the only goal was to move people, and not units, then who cares whether or not someone was playing a "new single."

Let me specifically focus on one artist. Now I don't want to use his real name, so let's call him Elton John. No, let's call him Reginald Dwight. It was reported that ole Reg graciously gave up his time to perform at The Concert For New York City to raise money for others. Now, out of all of the hundreds of songs in his catalogue that he could have chosen to justly capture the moment, "Tiny Dancer", "I'm Still Standing", "Empty Garden", etc., what song did he choose to open his two song set?!?! "I Want Love". His "new single" from his just released new album.

And he isn't the only culprit. There were many others. But I don't have the time, space or inclination to list them all, so let me digress.

The shows that featured our culprits will raise money for the less fortunate and, who knows, maybe these artists need the money too. After all, because of the attacks many of them are being forced to cancel their tours. And that has to hurt financially. Maybe not as much as losing a loved one in an act of terrorism, but it probably hurts nonetheless.

But then again, maybe I should just stop thinking so much. Maybe it is just that the performers sang songs from their latest releases. After all, many people in America will be thinking about "new singles" for the next little while. The people who lost a wife, husband, fiancé or lover are just that: a new single.

But it's unlikely that they will ever see the top of any chart, except the chart of compassion, which is what I thought these weekend concerts were supposed to be about.

I'm Dan Reynish.

No Bond For Anna

Kournikova's No Bond Girl

Russian beauty ANNA KOURNIKOVA may sizzle on the tennis court - but she's not about to spice up the latest JAMES BOND movie. EON PRODUCTIONS, who produce the spy flicks, have rubbished reports the busty blonde will appear as PIERCE BROSNAN's sidekick. Last week it emerged the center court stunner was in talks with producer BARBARA BROCCOLI and director LEE TAMAHORI about becoming the next 007 girl. An EON spokesperson says, "We do not now where this story has come from but it is not true. "The film is in pre-production and we are casting, but Anna Kournikova has not been in any talks with us." Kournikova has only acted once before in a cameo role in JIM CARREY's comedy ME, MYSELF & IRENE last year.

Better Her Than Whitney Houston

Anna Kournikova to Be Next Bond Girl

Tennis beauty ANNA KOURNIKOVA is being lined up to be JAMES BONDS' next conquest. The 20-year-old sports star is in talks to join PIERCE BROSNAN in his fourth movie about the British secret agent. Russian born Kournikova has been pursing an acting career after completing a cameo role in ME MYSELF AND IRENE earlier this year. She's now anxious to make a bigger impact in Hollywood by taking on a more mainstream part. A friend says, "Tennis is Anna's main priority but she's very keen to take on any opportunities which come her way. "She did a cameo in Me, Myself and Irene and I know she would like to do more. James Bond would be an amazing opportunity for her." A spokesperson for EON, the production company behind the Bond films says, "She'd probably love to be in it!" Eon is currently researching possible locations for the setting of the film, which will begin filming next year.

The company admits they are having to change the script, so it doesn't remind audiences of the terrorist attacks in America last month. The spokesperson continues, "Everything will be taken into consideration to ensure that nothing in the film will correspond with the tragedies in America and Afghanistan."

Kournikova will film her part in between her numerous tennis tournaments next year.

Guests Line Up To Appear On ALIAS

Gina Torres (Any Day Now, The Matrix Reloaded) makes her first two appearances as Sydney's deadly nemesis, K-Directorate agent Anna Espinosa, on ALIAS this week and next. The episodes find Syd traveling to Madrid to retrieve a 500-year-old sketch containing a set of numbers that oddly resemble modern-day digital machinery code. Torres isn't the only guest star to appear on the hit new spy thriller in the coming weeks -- Notorious computer hacker Kevin Mitnick stars as a CIA computer expert in the show's October 28th episode, Lori Heuring (The In Crowd) plays an actress on two upcoming episodes (10/28 & 11/4), and Angus Scrimm (Phantasm) will soon pop up as the head of the security section of SD-6.

ALIAS airs Sunday nights at 9 on ABC. Watch it! It's great!

Get Ready For The Score

The Score Gets A Release Date

Three generations of powerhouse performers gather together for the first time under the direction of Frank Oz in the tension-filled crime drama The Score. The thriller, starring Marlon Brando, Robert De Niro, and Edward Norton is coming to DVD from Paramount Home Entertainment this winter. Nick Wells, a professional criminal, cuts things a little too close when he last job nearly ended in disaster. His decicion to retire to his Montreal jazz club is interrupted all to soon when his partner Max shows up with an offer too hard to pass up. A historical and priceless French sceptre has been discovered while being smuggled into the country. It will only be in the country for a matter of days before being returned to France, and only Nick can lift it. The only catch is that he must work with the young inside man Jackie Teller. With this much money on the line, who can trust who?

The DVD will feature an anamorphic widescreen transfer, a Dolby Digital 5.1 surround track and an audio commentary by director of photography Rob Hahn and director Frank Oz discussing his first dramatic feature. Extras include a behind-the-scenes featurette, "Making The Score", additional footage and the original theatrical trailer. The new DVD will appear on shelves on December 11th, 2001.

BRUCE WILLIS is refusing to make any more DIE HARD movies in the wake of the American terrorist attacks - despite being offered a whopping $32.5 million. The phenomenally popular series of movies helped make Willis the huge Hollywood star he is today, but the action star now says, "After the recent events, my heart is no longer in it."

Britney Speaks

Britney Spears: "Ambition Drove Mariah Crazy."

BRITNEY SPEARS blames MARIAH CAREY's glitzy lifestyle for the diva's nervous breakdown - and the teenage pop sensation is determined not to make the same mistake. Britney has lashed out at stars like Mariah for allowing fame to go to their heads, claiming they have lost touch with their normal lives in their desperate pursuit of fame and success at whatever cost. And despite her own gruelling work schedule, the glamorous singer claims she makes a strict distinction between her professional and personal life in order to preserve her own sanity. She says, "I think that sometimes stars start believing they are a goddess or they are this god-like figure. "First of all, I had a really long break before this promotion, because it's a big thing. Mariah had a really long break, too, but I think that some people make their careers their lives. "You need to separate your career and your life. This is not my life, this doesn't mean everything to me. "Some stars feel the pressure and it's all they think about. You can't do that - that's what drives them crazy."

The Terminator DVD Goodies

The Terminator: Special Edition Hidden Easter Eggs

On MGM Home Entertainment’s Incredible Special Edition release of James Cameron’s 'The Terminator' a whole lot of additional material is well hidden on the disc. Insert the side of the DVD that contains the actual movie, not the supplements, and from the main menu, go to 'Special Features.' Once there, highlight the 'Resume Film' menu entry and then press the 'Down' arrow key on your remote control to highlight a small block at the top of the screen. Now, press 'Enter' and you will get to see one of four interview featurettes that are hidden here. Repeat the exact same procedure to see them all as they are randomly selected every time you activate this Easter Egg. Another hidden feature can be found in the 'Languages' submenu. Go there and select the 'Français' menu entry for 'Spoken Language.' Then, press the 'Right' arrow key to highlight a small block, which will give you access to another set of five interview featurettes that are randomly selected every time you activate this Easter Egg. And another hidden feature can be found in the 'Scene Selections.' Select the chapter stops for chapter 13-16, and then highlight the 'Main Menu' entry at the bottom of the screen. Now, press the 'Down' arrow key on your remote control to highlight another box on the screen, which will give you access to another five interview segments that are randomly selected every time you activate this Easter Egg, so make sure to keep visiting it repeatedly.

Enjoy!
